FKB-Arealbruk – historical data 2024

FKB-Arealbruk is part of the Joint Mapping Database (FKB). FKB is a collection of datasets that form a central part of the base map. See Metadata entry for Common Map Database for more info.
FKB-Arealbruk describes the physical use of an area. The dataset is not comprehensive.
Mark layer descriptions are mapped in the data set FKB-AR5 (area condition, bonity, ground layer and mineral raw materials). Area plan data (municipal plans, zoning plans, etc.) show legal provisions on how an area should be disposed of. FKB-Arealbruk is thus showing a third type of mapping of an area where it focuses on the physical use of a geographical area regardless of the soil’s production capacity or what the area is planned/determined for. An example of this may be a development area that in FKB-Arealbruk will be coded as a construction site, regardless of whether this area is suitable as a fully cultivated area and what the area is regulated for in the planning data.
FKB data is non-sensical and open data. The FKB data is financed through the Geogrowth cooperation, or the municipalities alone for municipalities that are outside Geogrowth. The FKB data is freely available to Norway digital parties and can be downloaded through the download solution at Geonorge. Private operators must purchase access to the data through a retailer.
