Test backdrop III - locations with climate protection potential to be tested (LBK 1984-2004)

Description

Test set III is one of three test sets in which (in ascending order) the presence of peatland biotope types and the soil properties of a peat cover relevant to climate protection, i.e. a theoretical greenhouse gas reduction potential in rewetting, should be checked. In accordance with the LBEG, the areas of national biotope mapping (1984-2004) identified here are classified as carbon-rich soils with significance for climate protection (BHK50). Due to their biotope type, however, the areas of the National Biotope Mapping (1984-2004) shown here indicate either mineral sites or heavily over-embossed biotopes due to their anthropogenic nature. As with Test Scenario II, it should also be examined here whether the soils are already too degraded for rewetting with greenhouse gas mitigation potential to be realistic. In addition to possible anthropogenic impairments of the bog body, the deviations between soil and biotope data in Test Scene III can also be due to uncertainties in the data basis, such as inaccuracies in the soil map or, if necessary, incorrect biotope type mapping. Since there is a possible discrepancy between soil and biotope type data, these areas should be checked for their site characteristics.The backdrop is based on the results of the survey of areas of value for nature conservation in Lower Saxony (National Biotope Mapping, 2. passage, from 1984 to 2004). The areas shown are areas of national importance for the protection of species and ecosystems as well as the protection of earth-historical landscape forms, which were worthy of protection at the time of the mapping from the point of view of the specialist authority for nature conservation.
