Renewable Energy Atlas Flanders - Additional potential energy production from wind turbines - technical scenario
Description
This map layer is part of the Renewable Energy Atlas Flanders. In this technical scenario, the theoretical, technical maximum with regard to the additional production potential is estimated for large-scale and small-scale wind. For large-scale wind, a 2.3 MW wind turbine is assumed and for small-scale wind of 300 kW. The available space is defined within which the technology can be used to the maximum to produce energy. This demarcation is achieved through a combination of positive and negative spatial preconditions. For small-scale wind, buffer zones around potential locations for large-scale wind are already being charged. In the technical scenario, only the limitations in space for safety reasons are taken into account. For an overview of the spatial conditions used, please refer to the report. Within the available space, a maximum of wind turbines is then placed, taking into account a minimum distance that can be respected between the wind turbines. The hotspots in Flanders are presented with a filtered image of the results. The figures per municipality can also be consulted in the attached table.
