REDIAM. WMS HIC 3190 Karst lakes and lagoons on plaster
Description
WMS service corresponding to Habitat of Non-Priority Community Interest 3190 of small lakes and generally permanent lagoons developed in areas of water upwelling in areas with active karstification on gypsum-rich materials. These water bodies are characterised by large level fluctuations (up to 2.5 m) determined by the level of the underlying aquifer and the amount of precipitation. Its depth does not usually exceed 7 m (this is not the case in Spain), although the stratification of its waters is well developed (from spring to early autumn). The dissolution of the plasters gives its waters high concentrations of Ca2+ and SO42 ions. These conditions allow the development of planktonic populations and biofilms of purple and green sulfur bacteria. The communities of Charetea, Lemnetea and Potamogetonion form the dominant elements in vegetation. Node of the Andalusian Environmental Information Network. Regional Government of Andalusia.
