Master plan Velo

Masterplan Velo – Zurich invites you to cycle. The Velo Master Plan is a central element of the Urban Transport 2025 programme and serves its objectives at various levels: A higher proportion of bicycles reduces energy consumption, pollutant emissions and noise in total traffic. https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ted/de/index/taz/publikationen_u_broschueren/masterplan_velo.html Please note that this is the planned bicycle network of 2012. The master plan Velo is currently being revised and replaced by a new bike strategy. In connection with the new Velo Strategy and the implementation of the Veloroute Initiative, the civil engineer is currently developing a network of preferred cycle routes. This is not yet finished and therefore not public. **Purpose**: Display of all main and comfort routes. The existing cycle route network will be supplemented and structurally and qualitatively improved. As the backbone of the urban route network, a network of fast-travelable, continuous and low-impact main routes is created for everyday and habitual users. These are self-trassed (wheel strips or paths) or lead via car-poor district roads. Width and guidance are designed for larger bicycle traffic volumes and speeds and provide a high level of safety. The main routes will be aligned with regional rapid routes planned by the city in cooperation with the canton. As an additional offer, especially for casual riders, a comfort route network is created. Largely separated from motorised traffic, on these “velote carpets” the entire city area can be relaxed and crossed with pleasure. Selected routes are completely signposted.
