Accumulation of pressures that may cause the modification of the background profile and / or burial in the North Atlantic Demarcation (EM NOR PRE Modification of the Fund Profile)
Description
In order to identify the areas affected by a change in the background profile and/or possible burial, the area occupied by all the pressures described in section 2.1. of the "Pressure and Impact Analysis" of the Demarcation has been taken into account and what percentage they occupy in each cell. That is, the sum of the surfaces occupied by the pressures has been calculated and then the quotient between that sum and the surface area of each cell has been calculated. The result, therefore, reflects the areas with the largest occupied area (in percentage) in the funds by structures or actions that can modify their profile.
In cases where surfaces are not available (because they are information referring to points or lines), the layers have been transformed into polygons by the application of radii that approximate what these pressures may occupy, in particular:
- Sunken ships: radius of 75 metres
- Cables and pipes: radius of 5 meters
- Artificial and regenerated beaches: radius of 200 metres
The water sheets of all ports are included (zones I in the case of Ports of General Interest), since they are susceptible to being dredged.
The classification used for the cells is as follows:
Very High: Greater 15 % / High: 10 to 15 % / Average: 5 to 10% / Low: 2,5 to 5 % / Very Low: less 2.5%
