Original Minute Plans MFA

Description

The “Original Minute Plans MFA” (Mensuration fédérale ancienne) were created on cardboard carriers in the format 100/70 cm. These are semi-graphic surveys. They were drawn up, according to the first guidelines at federal level, from 1911 and until the 1940s. A so-called “civil” coordinate system, which originated at the Bern Observatory, was transferred to each minute schedule. Subsequently, a network of base points (polygonals) was determined by polar (vectorial) measurements, calculated and transferred to the coordinate system. On this basis, the detail points (border and situation points) were determined and transmitted by orthogonal or polar measurements. These documents made it possible to create the land register plans MFA by reproduction. The minute plans reflect the land register situation at the time of its creation and have not been followed up. Prior to their archiving, they were scanned, they are available on part of the territory of the canton of Freiburg.
