Wieringermeer and Haarlemmermeer - Soil map
Description
Soil suitability for primary agriculture: on the basis of soil type, soil structure and water, it appears that the Wieringermeerpolder, with the exception of the island of Wieringen, is generally very suitable for primary agriculture. Only a few areas have limited possibilities or are less suitable. The Wieringermeerpolder is very sensitive to salty seepage: in the north-east, this is a serious problem; to a slightly lesser extent and extent, this is also a problem in the north-west and south-west of the polder. This increasing salinisation may put pressure on primary agriculture in these areas.
