Description
The information contained in this dataset is a vector layer with the background type of the study area.
The area comprising the data provided corresponds to the continental shelf sector of the Avilés Underwater Cannon System.
The raw data available with which this vector layer was produced were acquired during the years 2010, 2011 and 2012, thanks to the oceanographic surveys INDEMARES AVILÉS 0410 and 0511, on board the B/O Vizconde de Eza, INDEMARES AVILÉS 0412, on board the B/O Ramón Margalef and INDEMARES AVILÉS 0912 on board the B/O Ángeles Alvariño. During 2019 and 2020 part of the data was reprocessed with the latest techniques available in processing software and new digital elevation models were acquired, improving spatial resolution and data quality.From these models and reflectivity mosaics, the map of background types of the area was made, with a resolution of 10 m.
The geographical information collected is stored in a spatial database.
The reprocessing works have been financed thanks to the LIFE IP INTEMARES Project (LIFE-IP INTEMARES - Integrated, Innovative and Participatory Management for N2000 network in the Marine Environment - LIFE15 IPE/ES/000012). This integrated project has the challenge of laying the foundations to effectively manage the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network and complete the work and progress promoted within the framework of the LIFE + INDEMARES project, which managed to take a great step in terms of declaring new areas.
