Land properties of Guyana (2014)
Description
The AUDeG published a mapping atlas of French Guiana’s land properties in 2015 (available for free download on its website: http://www.audeg.fr/ressources/zoom_ressource.asp?id=135&srub=3&ssrub=1). From the graphical files and literal data of the cadastre (January 2014), the AUDeG proposes an anonymised classification of land ownership distinguishing, according to a communal division, the following properties:
State,
— Local authorities,
— Lenders/managers,
— EPAG,
— CNES,
— Coastal conservatory,
— Private,
— Uninformed.
In some cases, the AUDeG made classification adjustments when the literal data appeared to be incorrect or uninformed. There are also some reservations about the use of these data since:
— the cadastral plan is an administrative document used to identify and identify buildings with a view to establishing local tax bases. Its purpose is essentially fiscal and is not intended to guarantee a right to property. It therefore only describes a situation of apparent ownership. Only the mortgage real estate file that tracks the legal events of the property would be a reliable source but since it is not available in a digital format, any statistical exploitation is complex.
— cadastral documentation differs in accuracy across geographic areas. Although the cadastral sectors are regularly and rigorously updated (mainly coastal strip and urbanised areas), knowledge is only partial elsewhere. In fact, apart from the cadastral sectors, land properties may exist (parcels F) but these may not be identified with the domains department (about 1/3 out of 2,000 estimated titles) or may not be carried over because they are not subject to a georeferenced plan (1/2 of the estimated titles).
Downloading the data is limited to the services signatory to the Convention for the transformation of cadastral digital files for EDIGEO-PCI labeling, but its consultation is free.
