Description
Usable field capacity of the soil up to 100 cm profile depth is the amount of soil water in volume % or mm water column, which it can bind at a defined suction voltage between pF = 1.8 and pF = 4.2 or in pores with an equivalent diameter of between 50 µm and 0.2 µm. The classification is made according to KA5, p. 349, tab. 74.
For soils where skeletons or solid rocks are at a lower depth, the data refer to the thickness of the solum:
Classification:
very low < 6 % vol.,
low 6 to < 14 % vol.,
mean 14 to < 22 % vol.,
high 22 to < 30 % vol.,
very high >= 30 vol.-% (this value range is not occupied on map).
