Geographical Nomenclature of Andalusia
Description
The information contained in the Geographical Nomenclature of Andalusia (NGA) includes the most complete set of toponymies of the Andalusian territory, made available to society through four public services and free on the Internet: the Geographic Name Finder and three interoperable gazetteer services: one for visualization (Web Map Service or WMS) and two for download (Web Feature Service or WFS), one of them adapted to the requirements of the Inspire regulations.
The NGA, considered infrastructure and geographical reference equipment of standardized and official toponymy is a dynamic register that provides a large georeferenced database with information of more than 232,000 place names or geographical identifiers located with a geometry of more than 307,000 points, mainly from the official basic cartography at 1:10,000 scale (MTA10 Digital Vectorial v1:1998-2003) to which other sources are being incorporated to complete and / or normalize the toponymy of certain types of entity. The data model, based on the Spanish Nomenclature Model v1.2, was adapted in 2012 to the INSPIRE regulations and specifications on geographical names. This activity covers the entire territory of Andalusia.
Its database is reused by other infrastructures such as IDEAndalucía, Line@, Telegeo and the Provincial Councils of Seville and Malaga, allowing the consultation or download of data by society in general.
