Nitrate contaminated areas according to §13a Fertilizer Ordinance (dataset)
Description
Since 2017, amendments to the Fertiliser Ordinance have made it possible to designate areas particularly contaminated with nitrates as part of the German Action Programme for the implementation of the EU Nitrates Directive. These areas are subject to stricter management requirements for utilised agricultural land. The designation of nitrate-contaminated areas serves to protect groundwater from nutrient inputs that are too high, in particular nitrate, and is carried out by the federal states.
