Description
The large-scale soil landscapes (BGL) are landscape genetics or structural geologically determined and morphologically recognizable spatial units with similar climatic conditions. Knowledge of the defining regionally effective characteristics makes it possible to use them both in the mapping and in the assignment of characteristic characteristics and properties. The large-scale soil landscapes are thus tools for systematic soil mapping, description of soil shapes and quality assurance.
In Lower Saxony, the following large-scale soil landscapes are depicted: Islands, mudflats and coastal marshes of the coastal holocene, the supraregional river landscapes, floodplains and low terraces, valley sand depressions and primordial current valleys, geest plates and end moraines of the geest, loessbörde and foreland of the mountain foreland, loess basins and mountain ranges of the mountains and submontanes and Montanes low mountain ranges.
