Base Lower Bunt Sandstone
Description
The Lower Bunt sandstone is the oldest mapped mesozoic unit. Due to the geomechanical decoupling of rock packets below (see base Zechstein), the structural patterns in the Mesozoic top mountain range differ in some cases significantly from those of the Paleozoic units below the Zechstein salt. Gaps in the distribution are mainly found along salt walls running from NNE-SSW to NW-SE. The low altitude rises to the southeast towards the north German basin. High altitudes are mainly located above the salt cushion Lilli/Leila and along the Diapir flanks of the salt wall Lollo/Lisa.
