Trends in groundwater temperature
Description
Against the background of the discussion on the effects of climate change, the data on groundwater temperatures for the period 1997 to 2009 were examined for changes. For the trend determination, 71 of the 128 groundwater bodies were analyzed. It was found that a significant temperature increase of about 0.7 °C took place in more than half of the investigated groundwater bodies. The results correlate with the development of air temperature, which is why rising groundwater temperatures must be expected in the next few decades. Small-scale factors are also known to influence the development of groundwater temperature. However, a direct connection could not be established in the context of this work.
