Description
Water protection forest is used to maintain groundwater as well as standing and flowing surface water. Other water protection forest and forest on areas with formally defined purpose limitation, ensures and improves the quality of groundwater as well as standing and flowing surface waters. It improves the stability of the water donation while at the same time reducing the risk of flood damage and erosion. In contrast to the legally designated water protection forest, the Other Water Protection Forest is made up of forest areas on which the water management administration plans protected areas in the (closer) future according to water law. These are both extensions of existing protected areas and new area designations.
