Water chances map water management – Zoute torment
Description
Torment means that groundwater rises in the soil under pressure. In Zeeland this pressure arises because the water level in the delta waters is higher than the ground and surface water levels in the low polders. In Zeeland, torment is mainly salty or brackish under the influence of the delta waters. The water torment map gives an expectation about the degree of torment of salt or brackish groundwater in a certain area.
