Description
Fishing with fixed tools for salmon, sea trout or char in the sea must be registered in the Salmon Register — sea salmon fishing by the fisherman. Each individual fisherman, fishing gear (kilenot, hook yarn and set yarn) and fishing place must be registered. This applies to fishing on your own ground or by agreement with the landowner.
The County Governor manages the register in his county and sends the catch diary to the fisherman. The Environment Agency is responsible for the system. To Statistics Norway (SSB) get an overview of registered fishermen and receive completed catch diaries from sea salmon fishermen after the fishing season is over.
