Organic pollutants in grassland soils
Description
For the study ‘Organic pollutants in grassland soils’, the Federal Environment Agency took soil samples from 14 extensively used grassland soils and examined their content of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). The following organic substances or groups of substances were analysed and evaluated: Organochlorine compounds, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins, furans and DL-PCBs, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), 4nonylphenol and bisphenol A, nitrophenols, chlorophenols, phthalates, organocine compounds and the hydrocarbon index. The results provide an essential basis for the description of ubiquitous pollutant loads with POP and Upcoming Organic Pollutants, novel organic pollutants with environmental relevance, in grassland soils.
