Carbon-rich soils in Lower Saxony 1: 50000 with sealed surfaces (simplified categories)
Description
The map covers the overall backdrop of carbon-rich soils in Lower Saxony on the basis of the Lower Saxony soil map 1: 50000 (BK50). They provide a nationwide overview of the distribution and distribution of bog soils and other carbon-rich soils. It describes the soil types of high and low bog, Moorgley, organomarsch with low bog cover, moor treposols (sand-mix cultures of low bog sand, dredger cooling soil, spitt crops), sand deck culture as well as soils with powerful and flat overlaid peats.
The BK50 soil map describes the distribution of soils in Lower Saxony on a scale of 1: 50.000 according to the latest state of the soil information available at the LBEG. The soil map shows a relatively high spatial differentiation of the soil types for its scale and takes into account the most up-to-date knowledge of the distribution of the bogs at the time of creation, including the earthing levels and mooring soils as well as of cultivated soils such as deep breaks, plaggenes, spitt culture soils, marsh hoof soils.
Moor soils are particularly dynamic and change rapidly due to cultural measures. Drainage creates an aerobic area in the peat body, which initiates processes such as sacking, peat shrinkage and decomposition and leads to a loss of peat power (grounding processes in the bog). The present card can only reflect these changes in time.
It should be noted that the map is an overview. It can be used to get an overview of the carbon-rich soils of Lower Saxony or to identify search rooms. On the other hand, it cannot be a basis for sparse, regional statements.
