Visual milestones. Andalusia Visibility System
Description
In a previous work (Resources and Visual Horizons. Andalusia Visibility System) sought to identify the main visual resources of the Andalusian territory, understood as the elements, mainly geomorphological in nature, which first shape the landscape and give it a structure and character. The present work starts from the idea that the character and identity of a landscape also rest on the presence of certain singular elements or concrete milestones that have relevance in the structure and processes of the landscape. These landmarks usually have an intrinsic value, either from the historical-artistic point of view, as can be the case of a hermitage, a wall or a castle, or even because of its natural uniqueness, as would be the case of a tombolo, a river stretch or a remarkable rock. However, the mere presence of those in the landscape makes them susceptible to additional valuations derived, in particular, from their visual relationships with each other and with other elements of their environment.
