Description

Today, the problem of air pollution, especially cities, is very acute. Pollutants in the air are able to change environmental conditions (negatively affects not only air quality, but also some pollutants enter soil and water), harm human health and ecosystems. Air quality management therefore plays an important role in the national environmental management system. The Housing and Environment Department of Riga City Council is the responsible authority for air quality measurements in the municipality and provides information on pollution level in the capital both in the form of operational and statistical information, as well as in the form of calculated air quality indicators, as well as provides access to air quality forecasts for 3 days. Information on air quality concentrations in Europe is available on the Up-to-date air quality data portal of the European Environment Agency, while information on air quality indicators in Europe is available on the European Air Quality Index.
