Areas vulnerable to nitrate pollution, update 2015
Description
Delimitation of zones vulnerable to nitrates of agricultural origin. This is the area of land whose run-off flows into the affected waters, or which could be affected if no action is taken, by nitrate pollution from agricultural sources and those areas of land which contribute to such pollution (Directive 91/676/EC concerning the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources). These areas shall be included in the Register of Protected Areas of the River Basin Management Plan.
This layer of Vulnerable Zones corresponds to those sent to the European Commission in the quadrennial report 2008-2011 in response to the Nitrates Directive.
