Description
In 1996, the Phytosanitary Alert and Information Network in Andalusia was launched for the first time. From the beginning it was a pioneering idea in Spain that aimed, through the proper training of a series of specialised field technicians, to meet the following objectives:
· Monitor in space and time, the phytosanitary status of the main crops of Andalusia, especially in those crops and those pests or diseases covered by the EEC Directive, and for the purposes contemplated therein, using the most advanced pest and disease monitoring systems.
·Manage all the information about the phytosanitary situation of the crops that can be obtained from all the sources available in Andalusia (data from ATRIAS, APIS, RAIF technicians, or technicians of the Olive Fly Alert Network, etc.).
· Be able to respond to the growing demand for information at all levels (agricultural sector, applicants from the regional administration itself, MAPA, etc.).
· Carry out special actions aimed at collecting data on pests of particular concern for the sector due to the problems posed, taking advantage of the network of control stations that make up the RAIF.
