Description
The project "Geological Research and Basic Cartography in the Pyrite Belt and surrounding areas" (ICFP), which was undertaken by the Mines Service with the collaboration of the Mining Geological Institute of Spain, was carried out between 1997 and 1999 and is a deepening of the previous work developed on this same area by both organizations. The winning companies were a Temporary Union of Companies, INFAPIR, formed by INIMA, INGEMISA and EPTISA, and the company CGS.
This project includes the updating of the basic geological cartography published by the IGME within the MAGNA program (National Geological Map at 1:50,000 scale), supported by the detailed research work carried out by mining companies and public institutions such as the IGME.
The project includes basic geological mapping at 1:50,000 scale, comprising the entire study area and a more detailed mapping at 1:25,000 scale, of areas of special mining interest. Base mapping ensures continuity between the different sheets. Each of the sheets contains, in turn, a series of thematic layers that can constitute a single layer of information as they have lateral continuity. Along with the cartographic, a report of each of the leaves that make up the project is attached, which describes the geological information contained in the geological maps, including the description of the geological units, stratigraphic, petrology, tectonics, economic geology and the tectosedimentary evolution of the corresponding area, along with a bibliography used for the drafting of said report.
In addition, the information resulting from geological investigations, included in an annexed database, is collected. The geological research data consists of the results of a series of studies (absolute ages, clays, paleontology, micropaleontology, carbonate petrology, igneous rock petrology, metamorphic rock petrology, terrigen petrology, alterations and geochemistry) carried out on samples collected during the field campaigns carried out during the project. In addition to the above, there is general information about the project, not associated with the analysis of any specific sample. These are mining data, gravimetric profiles, hydrology, reservoirs, stratigraphic columns and descriptive information of the project.
