Planned Railway Network

Digital base of the planned railway network in Andalusia. It includes the different routes and their categories, being able to differentiate between the different categories depending on the services (High Performance Network and conventional network) and the type of transport carried out (goods or passengers). Information is also available regarding the electrification of the track as well as the track gauge differentiating between UIC and Iberian gauge. It is generated with the intention of serving as a homogeneous reference for planning tasks of the Autonomous Administration. It aims to respond to the needs of the “Infrastructure Plan for the Sustainability of Transport in Andalusia (PISTA 2007-2013)”. The information has been collected at various levels of observation, although it is assumed that 1:100.000 would be the minimum scale at which the representation is reliable. The data, which are in shape format, are updated weekly since 2006 in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the body responsible for information, despite the fact that the competences regarding the railway network are the National Geographic Institute, Ministry of Development.
